SOMMER TA: new shelving system for box bodies
SOMMER is presenting an innovation for CEP vehicles at the IAA 2012, which impresses due to its variability, extremely practical solutions and resulting high customer value. The SOMMER TA is an innovative shelving system for panel vans in the 3.5 to 5-tonne class. Very low tare weight, a safety door system and the space-saving design are just a few of the new system's advantages. The new shelving body system is designed for panel vans from the VW Crafter, Iveco Daily, Fiat Ducato and Opel Movano series, and offers structures for different wheel bases.
Thanks to a supporting frame specially developed by SOMMER, the new shelving system fits precisely into the line of the van's side wall and requires no prior fittings from the vehicle manufacturer. This facilitates optimum use of the loading area. Furthermore, the aisle is particularly wide – a big advantage for loading and unloading. The shelves are hinged to fold away easily if required and are then held in position by gas springs. The shelves fit between the shelving strips when folded up, enabling optimum use of the loading area. So-called airline rails are embedded in the aluminium shelves and on the floor. These enable the cargo to be secured in any direction (shelf to floor, shelf to shelf, floor to floor, floor to shelf) and in any position (folded up and down).
In addition to the shelving system, the SOMMER TA also includes an improved driver's cab with high ceiling and a convenient partition wall with sliding door. Headroom in the driver's cab and the generously sized, automatic-locking access to the loading area ensure quick entry and, thus, easy and efficient deliveries. The aluminium partition wall is extremely stable, offering additional protection for the load when breaking or in the event of an accident. The snapLOG automatic locking system provides extra security against unauthorised entry. The electronic locking mechanism was developed for SOMMER and locks both the partition wall and outer doors automatically with a time control. The snapLOG locking mechanism unlocks easily by means of the vehicle remote control. A step tread with non-slip finish in the rear makes access easier and guarantees safe entry for loading and unloading.
